Club captain Craig McFarlane and goalkeeper Dan Lister have both committed to another season at Hillheads.
McFarlane, a three time FA Vase winner during his early years at the club has made 380 appearances for Whitley Bay and will be looking to join a select band of players who have reached the landmark figure of 400. The attacking defender has also chipped in with some crucial and spectacular goals, totalling 33 so far. Joint manager Tony Fawcett commented “It’s great news that Craig has decided to stay with us. having him as club captain has its own benefits, however securing him as a player is vital. He was flying when last season was curtailed and is really enjoying his football.”
Lister is another key member of last year’s squad who has agreed to remain at Hillheads for the forthcoming season. Despite competing for the jersey with some experienced keepers, Dan, still only 21 years old, has already made 52 appearances for the club and Fawcett is delighted to be having the young goalkeeper in his squad for the coming season. “It is extremely important that we have top quality keepers and Dan is certainly in that bracket. He is as hungry as anyone to play for Whitley Bay and that is good news for us all.”
