Generous Bay fan donates season ticket

Long distance Whitley Bay fan Gordon Smith, who lives in Lesmahagow in Scotland, has bought a season ticket to Hillheads and asked the club to donate it to a charity or an organisation that deals with under-privileged people.

A regular visitor to the Whitley Bay Supporters Club online shop, Gordon attends Bay games when he visits the region on holiday.

“I enjoy visiting Hillheads and the company of the Bay fans, who always make me feel very welcome,” he said. “Buying a season ticket is my way of thanking the club for the hospitality they always show me when I attend. However, as I won’t be able to use it too often, I would rather someone else got the benefit of attending the games and enjoy the very special atmosphere non-league football has to offer.”

Doug Parker who manages the Supporters Club shop thanked Mr Smith for his fantastic gesture: “I have met Gordon several times and he is as fanatical about the Bay as any local fan, so to make this offer is greatly appreciated. We will be in touch with the relevant parties and make sure the season ticket goes to a deserving person.”

**Fans can buy season tickets from Hillheads during an Open Day on Sunday from 11am – 1.00pm.

Whitley begin their Ebac Northern League Division One season on 31 July, but before then have seven pre-season games arranged, including a home fixture against Northern Premier League, Premier Division outfit Whitby Town on July 17, kick off 3.00pm.

Whitby are now managed by former Hillheads boss Nathan Haslam and last visited the town in 2018 when Whitley Bay pulled off a shock 1-0 FA Cup victory over the side from two leagues higher up the football pyramid.
