We are pleased to announce that striker Scott Jasper is returning to Whitley Bay for a second spell at the club. The popular striker spent the 2017/18 season at Hillheads, scoring ten goals before leaving to join Ryton & Crawcrook Albion, where he teamed up with Tony Fawcett. It is perhaps no surprise that Bay’s new joint manager enticed Jasper back to the club. Both Fawcett and fellow joint manager Derek Forrest believe Jasper will have an important role to play when football eventually resumes, saying “Scott brings a bubbly and enthusiastic energy to the club. He is a winner on the pitch and will always give 100%. His strong attitude makes him a favourite with both the players and the fans.”
Looking ahead to his return to Hillheads, Jasper told us “I really enjoyed my time at Ryton and I believe Tony Fawcett was the reason. His team and man management skills are second to none. He will get the best out of players. Part of the reason for coming back was to prove that I can still cut it in the First Division. Also with it being my second stint at Whitley Bay I want to prove myself to the fans and be the player that they are looking for. I’ve been top scorer for Ryton for two seasons running but that goes hand in hand with having had a great team behind me. I was captain at Ryton so am used to shouting and guiding players! So now at the age of 30 I’ve got a bit of experience battling big defenders and I thrive off it!”
Welcome back to Whitley Bay Scott!
