Lee Kerr, has left Whitley to join his local side Jarrow FC. One of the all-time greats of the club, ‘Sparky’ returned to Hillheads last summer after a six year absence. Joining the club aged 16, he spent ten glorious years at Whitley Bay and was a three time FA Vase winner, scoring in all three finals, but he left for pastures new in 2013. He was a regular member of the side early this season but made only occasional appearances in recent times. Manager Nathan Haslam explained “Sparky has moved in order to get regular first team football. He goes with mine and everybody’s best wishes.” That sentiment will doubtless be echoed by all Bay fans. Sparky leaves in second place on the Club’s all-time appearance list having represented Whitley Bay on 471 occasions and his 187 goals makes him third top scorer of all time. He is a true Bay legend! Thanks for the memories and the best of luck in the future Lee!
