It was a disappointed Nathan Haslam who reflected on Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Guisborough Town. “It’s always disappointing when we lose. It’s the same story though, we controlled the game, looked the more complete team but we’ve been beaten by experience in a team who were allowed to grind out a result. Defensive mistakes led to their goals, we seem to say that every week. It’s the little things where we’re switching off, losing concentration. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s a quick fix, we’ve got to work on it and we’ve just got to be better. Individuals have got to be better and not switch off.“
He admitted that after a really good run in December the last three results have been disappointing. “Yes, without a doubt. We’ve lost three in a row after winning three in a row. It’s inconsistency but we are playing very, very similarly to when we went on that good run, but the difference is that during that good run we didn’t make mistakes at one end and we did put them away at the other, so the only word I can use is consistency. I’m a big believer that if we weren’t putting ourselves under pressure by conceding silly goals it would help a lot more when we’re going forward. We tend to be making wrong decisions going forward under pressure. The early goal we conceded was a criminal goal. I’ve had some harsh words with some of them. They’ve got to be better, they’ve got to be obsessed with wanting to get better and if not, the harsh reality is they’ll have to be moved on.”
