We are delighted to announce that FA Vase legend Lee Kerr has agreed terms to return to Whitley Bay and is Nathan Haslam’s first new signing ahead of the 2019/20 season. ‘Sparky’ spent ten years at Hillheads after signing as a 16 year old in 2003 and he scored in all three FA Vase Finals at Wembley. He is the club’s third top scorer of all time with 186 goals and gave a glimpse of his scoring instinct with a goal at the recent ‘Ten Years On’ charity game at Hillheads. On his return to the Club Lee said “I’ve always been made welcome here so there’s no better place for me to be honest. It’s a bit like coming back home. I’d like to get a few more goals and chase Chowy’s record now he’s finished!”
Manager Nathan Haslam admitted that he was delighted with his first recruit of the close season. “Lee’s ability is undoubted, He’s a legend of this football club and he brings a lot of experience. We’ve brought him back for the right reasons, first and foremost because of his football ability. I’m really, really excited to be working with him.”
A fuller interview with Lee and more reaction from Nathan will appear tomorrow.
