After frost and snow put paid to the entire Northern League fixture list last Saturday, heavy rain then gale force winds are forecast for this weekend but Whitley will be hoping that this latest batch of wintry weather will not endanger their game at home to Stockton Town tomorrow.
Fifth placed Stockton are currently in fine form, having won their last four games, but they have not been in action for three weeks, their last outing being a narrow 2-1 victory at Whickham on 19th January. Whitley’s last game a fortnight ago ended in an agonising 3-2 defeat with visitors Sunderland RCA grabbing a stoppage time winner after a hard fought game.
When Whitley travelled to Teesside for their first away game of the season back in August, a first half penalty saw The Anchors edge a closely contested game 1-0.
Victory could lift Whitley three places in the table while Stockton will be looking for a win to strengthen their position among the front runners.
