Whitley will be battling for a place in the Quarter Finals of the Brooks Mileson Memorial League Cup tonight when they travel to Ryhope CW for the second time in four days. Aiming to put Saturday’s disappointing 3-1 defeat behind them, several players who were unavailable for that game are expected to return to the squad, but one player who will definitely miss out is Lewis Suddick who is cup-tied.
Whitley reached this stage of the competition thanks to a 2-0 victory over North Shields, the goals coming from Ben Richardson and Luke Salmon, while Ryhope won on penalties at Billingham Synthonia after the game ended 1-1.
The sides have met once before in this competition. It was at the same stage six years ago when a second half hat trick from Paul Chow helped Whitley to a 4-1 win at Hillheads.
Extra time is not played in the League Cup so if the scores are level after 90 minutes, the game will be decided on penalties. Kick off is at 7.30pm.
