Whitley make the short journey to North Shields tomorrow (Saturday) hoping to record a second victory in less than a week over their nearest rivals. Having knocked the Robins out of the League Cup with a 2-0 victory at Hillheads on Tuesday evening, league points will be at stake when the sides meet at the Daren Persson Stadium and a win would put Whitley within three points of their hosts with two games in hand.
Both sides are expected to make changes for this game and there is the intriguing possibility that Lewis Suddick could make his Bay debut against his former side, just days after his transfer from the Robins. Whitley will be without Luke Taylor who is suspended, but Ibby Hassan and Olly Martin, who were unavailable on Tuesday night, both return to the squad. Goalkeeper Tom Flynn could also return after recovering from injury.
The Whitley Bay, North Shields and District branch of the Royal British Legion will be making a collection and selling poppies at the game.
In the evening, Whitley will be holding their annual Fireworks Display at Hillheads, with the gates opening at 6pm and the Fireworks scheduled to start at 7.30pm. Hot food will be available and the Seahorse bar will be open throughout the evening. Admission is £4 for adults, £2 for children with Under 5’s admitted free.
