Whitley’s 3-1 win against Billingham Synthonia, pleased Andy Gowens but the manager had reservations about his team’s performance. “It’s great to win, but without being derogatory to them it was a bit easy at times. Although we played some good stuff and created a lot of chances especially first half, we still aren’t being ruthless and finishing teams off, but I’m pleased with the result. We did well in spells but I was disappointed about not keeping a clean sheet and at the end that took a bit of the edge off the win. Towards the end, Aiden was struggling with his groin and Peter with his calf and we lost a bit of shape with both of them coming off. So that’s a draw and a win, let’s hope we can take this into Saturday but it looks as if we might need to have a bit of a roll call to see who’s available as a few people have taken knocks. One of the positives was that it’s good to see what the kids can do, (Kieran Brannen and Regan Paterson,) Kieran’s only 17 and Regan’s just 18 and they both did well, so that’s pleasing.”
