After conceding a late equaliser in Saturday’s game against Guisborough, there was a feeling of frustration among the Whitley players, fans and management, as Marc Nash acknowledged after the game.
“We are all disappointed not to take the three points, especially after our great win last week. We just couldn’t get the flowing football going so we had to grind and battle in tough conditions. Chances were at a premium so to lead twice and end up drawing is very frustrating, especially having seen footage of the penalty decision and as suspected it was a clean tackle by Ross and never ever a foul. In tight games you sometimes need decisions to go for you but that’s a clear error by the officials which is a real shame. However, we showed the spirit again and we thought we had won it with what seems our customary late goal but we’ve conceded a deflected shot. Maybe it just wasn’t to be.”
“The players as ever have put the graft in and none more so than young Kyle Patton whose been excellent lately and his goal was a great piece of technical ability to control the volley. Good to see Peter back from injury as well and with Alex available soon we will be back to full strength in time for a good haul of games – weather permitting!”
