After watching his side record a stunning 7-0 victory over Ryhope CW, Bay manager Marc Nash lavished praised on his players for what he described as a ruthless second half display. “I’m so proud of that performance in the end, especially the way we upped our game after taking the lead against the run of play. It’s fair to say we were second best all over the pitch for the opening half hour with Dan Lister having a confident debut making a number of great saves. We didn’t get to grips with their narrow attacking shape and they overloaded us time after time through the middle. Even 2-0 up half time didn’t change our talk with the players. We needed to be braver in possession and to get our full backs higher and wider to counter their narrow shape. I don’t think anyone would have predicted the half that followed. We were simply brilliant, every single player was in that confident zone and we could only stand and admire from the side. It’s not often in the Northern League where you can be so comfortable with so much time remaining but I think everyone enjoyed the display as it would have been easy at say 4-0 for the lads to start strolling but they smelt blood and were ruthless with intent on treating the fans. I was delighted for Peter grabbing a hat-trick as he’s been very patient and also Kyle Patton is returning to his best. It’s an example of how players with a bit of edge or even a point to prove can push the standards up through competition for places.
There’s a lot belief running through our squad and even with all the injuries we are fighting hard and showing plenty of spirit and resilience. Hopefully the further injuries to Josh and Jasper are days rather than weeks as we are getting a little thin on numbers again”
