Marc Nash did not hide his disappointment after the defeat to Newcastle Benfield “The dressing room was a sorry place to be after the game. The players know they have not done themselves justice and are frustrated not to progress in the FA Cup. It was our fifth tie of the competition so maybe now we can kick start the league campaign. From the management’s point of view it was a disappointing start to the game. We go and concede after 2 minutes which completely changes the dynamics of the game we were anticipating. Our defending was poor and it’s given Benfield the initiative in the game. Our passing was too slow and negative which gave Benfield an easy ride first half then the second goal on half time was an absolute killer for us. There was slight improvement in second half in terms of the players carrying out instructions but we needed the goal to get us momentum and to be honest Scott Jasper’s was the only real chance and he missed it. Going forward some players are slowly returning but missing both of our centre backs for so long is costing us dearly. We just don’t have the resources to replace that sort of quality which is a shame but we’ve got to battle away and the lads are doing their best. The crowd yesterday was very healthy and it’s a good sign that they are coming back to watch this young squad develop. Its a setback but longer term and with patience they’ll see some results.”
