Reflecting on the game at Morpeth, where Whitley suffered their first defeat since January, Marc Nash commented “Everyone is disappointed that our run has come to an end. It was always going to be a tough ask with the amount of first choice players missing. I’ve never ever had to field a completely different back four to a previous game but I’d like to make the point that nobody has let us down. We’ve stayed in the game for over an hour and the end result was freakish with some cruel luck. Josh Nearney and Michael Hall were patched up to play and maybe it all proved a little too much over the 90 minutes. Football is so unpredictable as I felt first half we didn’t play our way because not enough players wanted to get on the ball and play through them but ironically we came in level at 0-0. From that point of view the 2nd half was so much better and we played a lot more creating early chances and really Jasper should have given us the lead. That could have been a springboard to give us the belief of achieving a positive result. A five minute blitz from Morpeth has put the game to bed before we could even react but we’ll learn from it all and we must clear our heads for the FA Cup on Saturday and hopefully some more players to return.”
