Dunn commits his future to Whitley Bay

We are pleased to announce that defender Jamie Dunn has signed a contract to stay at Hillheads for the rest of this season with the option of extending the deal for a further year. The 27 year old who arrived at Hillheads in the summer from Second Division Ryton & Crawcrook Albion has already impressed the fans and is currently top scorer with five goals from his first seven games, a total which includes three penalties.

He told us “I’m really delighted. It’s nice to have a bit of a reward for having a few good games at the start of the season. I don’t really want to play anywhere else but it’s nice just to have that bit of security. I’m really enjoying it here. When I came I wasn’t sure if I’d be in for a shock or even get in the squad so it’s really nice that I’ve got my place in the team so far.  It’s a big step up. It’s a lot more physical than the Second Division and the pace of the game is a lot quicker as well.” Jamie, (pictured attacking down the wing at Sunderland RCA) has been on the score sheet more regularly than would be expected for a defender but he pointed out “In previous seasons I’ve played further forward so I think that’s what’s given me the eye for goal.”

Joint manager, Tony Fawcett, knew Dunn well from his time as Ryton boss and made him one of the first signings of the summer. “We are delighted to secure the services of Jamie” he told us. “There has been interest in Jamie from other clubs and we are delighted that he has chosen to commit his future to Whitley Bay FC. We feel he typifies the type of team we are starting to build.”
