Bay manager Nathan Haslam gave his reaction to the 4-3 defeat at Ryhope CW.
“Naturally I’m very disappointed, obviously, that we’ve lost the game 4-3. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb going 2-0 down after seven minutes. They were two very cheap goals which were defensive mistakes. We’ve done really well to come back in the game at 2-2 and we could have even been ahead at half time.
“For the second half the message was to be tight, do the basics defensively and obviously not concede, to go out and do our thing going forward, but pressure was immediately put on us when we went 3-2 down again from a basic corner where men haven’t been picked up and we haven’t reacted to the second ball. Then the fourth goal was unacceptable and for them it’s more or less put the game to bed. You shouldn’t go away from home, score three goals and lose a game of football. Defensively it was not good enough today – not collectively as a team – just as a defensive unit we’ve got to be better. No one can complain that we haven’t gone out and scored goals. We have done today.
“So In short I’m very disappointed, it’s purely down to not being good enough defensively. Do I want to bring more players in? No I don’t, so it’s probably a case of running with the squad we’ve got and trying to put it right.”
