This is the final weekend of fixtures in the Northern League First Division and Whitley complete their programme with a home game against Shildon. Whitley need a victory to guarantee retaining their 12th place while Shildon will be looking for three points to give them a chance of finishing sixth. It is just five weeks since the sides met at Dean Street in Nathan Haslam’s first game as Bay manager when Whitley fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2.
There can often be little to play for at this stage of the season but Whitley have three players in with a chance of claiming the top scorer’s ‘golden boot’ award. Andrei Ardelean leads the way with 13 goals, but Olly Martin and Luke Salmon are both just one behind on 12 goals each so all three will be keen to get on the score sheet this weekend.
Craig McFarlane is due to make his first home appearance since playing his 350th game for the club and a presentation to make his landmark achievement will be made just before kick off.
After the game, supporters are invited to join the players in the clubhouse for the end of season presentation of awards.
