We are delighted to announce a special celebration that will take place next year to commemorate Whitley Bay’s record breaking hat trick of FA Vase victories at Wembley. The event is the brainchild of Mark Taylor, whose final game was the FA Vase Final in 2009 and later that year was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. As all associated with Whitley Bay FC will know, Mark has bravely battled the disease ever since and explains how the anniversary will be celebrated.
“On Sunday 5th May we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first of our historic three consecutive FA Vase victories. The club is inviting players from all three years to take part in a match to celebrate our success. Fans will get to watch teams made up of players from the squads of all three years in a North vs South of the Tyne match, managed by Ian Chandler and Steve Cuggy, including the likes of club legends Lee Kerr, Paul Chow, Paul Robinson and David Coulson. Entry will be £2 with each fan receiving a tenth anniversary programme, produced by the Supporters Club.
All money raised will be donated to the MNDA. I hope you can attend to celebrate the success and reminisce on the most successful time in the club’s history. Kick off is one o’clock on Bank Holiday Sunday in what should be an excellent day.”
More information will follow in the months leading up to this special celebration but for now please put the date in your diary.
