Despite the defeat, Andy Gowens was pleased with the way the team played. “It was a great performance. Obviously Morpeth are a really good team, they played some really good football. But we created chances as well, Tom Potter with two good saves from the keeper, Regan at the end with a chance and Callum as well so we created some chances and did really well. I cannot fault them tonight; they played some nice football, worked hard and kept a good shape which is great. They followed the instructions they were given, so yes, it was really good!”
The manager highlighted the performances of the youngsters who came into the side “And there are some young kids in that squad tonight, Kieran, Regan and Ryan (Hucks) as well, he’s still a youngster. The future looks good with the young talent we’ve got, we just need to add to that really. We’ve set standards now playing like that against a top team and we’ve got to keep that up.”
