Bay manager Marc Nash was wholesome in his praise of Alex Kempster after the 22 year old signed a professional contract with York City. “The players & staff would like to wish Alex every success with his move into the professional game. Since we took over, his consistency and performance levels have gone through the roof and he’s earned this opportunity that York City have given him. He has proven to be a great role model and there has been nothing better to see than a Whitley Bay lad move through the ranks like he’s done. Talking to a raw 18 year old who wasn’t planning to move into senior football and was going to walk away from the game seems unthinkable now but thankfully we got him signed into our reserves and the rest as they say…..
Brilliant story and an example for any young players in our area to aspire. The challenge now begins to find the next one!!
Good luck Alex!”
