Manager highlights naive defending

Poor starts to both halves cost Whitley the points as they went down 3-2 at home to Jarrow Roofing and that was the aspect of the game that manager Marc Nash  highlighted in his assessment of the game. “It’s a feeling we dont want to get used to after another home defeat. I thought we were extremely naive in the first twenty minutes in terms of our defending. We cant afford to give teams that amount of space and time. Whilst I know we have the character to stage comebacks, those things should be needed once in a while and not seemingly every home game where we aren’t at the races. We were unlucky to lose our centre forward due to injury shortly after Liam got us back in the game and that meant a reshuffle. We ended the half on top so we were confident at half time that we could draw level at the very least. Again though we have started slowly and given the opposition momentum and they’ve punished us. It’s true the pitch doesnt suit our style but we must find a way to create chances and get results because at the minute we are denying ourselves a great opportunity to finish higher than last season. It’s because our away form is so good we are still very well placed but we must knuckle down and work hard to overcome the obstacles.”
