“We squandered opportunities”

Manager Marc Nash shared the frustration of Bay fans after seeing his side drop two points at home to Washington. “It was a frustrating night for all as we laboured to another draw. A shocking start has allowed a lowly placed opposition to get a grip on the game and they were clearly content to sit back after that so we’ve handed them a boost to their game plan in the first minute. We had a great spell midway through the first half but again, we were unable to convert the many chances created. I said to the lads that I may have got it wrong in terms of the shape we started with but maybe also that is masking the fact that we squandered opportunities regardless of team formations. We changed at half time to try and look less vulnerable against the counter attack whilst playing a system we are more familiar with. We dominated possession but we are falling short with the end product too many times but again in the closing stages we just seem to have that ability to turn the screw and Jasper has shown the instinct that was lacking by following in on the keeper’s save. After that you wouldn’t have been surprised to see us pinch the win and we nearly did from two from 2 great free kick deliveries. I said well done to the players afterwards for making it 7 games unbeaten but I also stressed that 2 points from 2 home games wasn’t enough in my opinion. We’ve got games in hand but that will only impact our position with wins and at home we expect to win after suffering just one Hillheads loss since January. It’s a tough schedule at present and injuries are creeping in again but we must stay strong and resilient to get the results until things ease off again.”
