Like the Bay fans who made the midweek trip to Teesside, manager Marc Nash went through a mixture of emotions during Whitley’s last gasp victory against Billingham Synthonia. “Another exciting finish!! I told the lads that we will play better and maybe lose so you’ve got to take that type of win in football. The main positive being that we weren’t near our best but we finally woke up in the last 20 minutes and turned the screw. With the amount of attacking players we had on the pitch it really was all or nothing. Credit to the lads for showing that great spirit and belief to get the 3 points. Synners were working ever so hard and making it difficult but our class has shown in the end. Don’t get me wrong, it was very frustrating at times especially as a manager when you want to back up the great win at the weekend with some consistency and we struggled in truth in the first half. We had to make the pitch bigger and stretch them which we did much better in the second half and certainly in the last 15 it was like attack v defence. We’re getting stronger and with Callum Anderson back in full training on Saturday we are nearing full strength again.”
