Marc Nash was naturally delighted to see his team progress to the next round of the FA Cup and heaped praise on the players. “Everyone is delighted with the result and performance in tricky conditions for our FA Cup Replay with Seaham. It’s great to see the lads playing fast, fluent football and treating the fans to a few goals. I’m very happy with everyone’s contribution and finally we turned dominance into goals. We put Scott Jasper in for his full debut thinking he would battle with their big centre backs and not only did he do that, he could have had a first half hat-trick but he got us on our way with a great header. Seaham changed their approach and played four forwards high up the pitch and our central midfield seemed to revel in the extra space and Kempster in particular was hurting them with his pace and link up play. He’s not scored during pre-season but his finish for the second was excellent. Jack Byerley, outstanding again, gave us the cushion right on half time and that effectively killed the tie. The lads managed the game very well in the second half, including recovering from a horrendous mistake from the ref for giving Seaham the penalty and a way back into the game. Kyle Patton made it safe again and the young lad just has that goal scoring knack as well as his impressive work rate. Overall it was one of those games where every player has had a good game and we’ve clicked. I was also impressed with their mentality at half time when some commented on the fact we lost 6-1 at Seaham last year and that we don’t let up even at 3-0. That sort of thought process and attitude can only bode well.”
